Hey everybody!! We're halfway through February and I had every intention of posting this at the end of January but for some reason I didn't! So, I'm posting it now but first, I want to know have you stuck with your goals for the new year? If you follow me of Instagram, you may remember this photo! I said these two words are what I need to get a closer relationship with God, to get healthy and perfect my skills this year. You wanna know how I did my first month? It wasn't easy but I did......AWESOME!!
Lets start with my relationship with God first! I can't tell you how many times I said last year I was going to get up 5:30 and start my day with prayer and scripture. Everyday my 5:30 alarm would go off and I would hit snooze. That lack of devotion and crucial alone time I needed with God happened only a hand full of times, and I was running on E, frustrated, and tired most of 2016! BUT GOD!! I decided I have to show God with actions not words how much I desire Him, and my biggest sacrifice would be sleep!! I'm a sleepy, homebody, country girl to my core! LOL!! I'm happy to report I get up at 5:00 now to pray, listen, and enjoy my me-time with God!!
Next up is getting healthy!! Last year after I came back from LA after attending the Mimi G conference, I was so embarrassed looking at photos of myself! That was a huge eye-opening moment!! I was uncomfortable, tired ALL the time, and really self-conscience! I tired on my T-shirts I bought from the conference and needless to say I couldn't fit them. Another blow to the self-esteem! So if you've been following me for a while, you know at the end of July I said I wanted to lose 40lbs in 5months. Very reasonable goal, right? Well, I didn't met it! I lost 17lbs and felt like a huge failure!! 17 lbs is great but I knew I didn't put forth real commitment. I lacked faith, determination, and consistency. Every Monday I started over! BUT GOD!!
In July 2016, I was 217lbs. January 1, I weighed 208! Today February 17, I weigh 196!!! I'm free of the 200s and I feel amazing!!! I work out once a day now! 30 minute treadmill walk/jog at 5:30 or Insanity Max 30 at 7:15. Can you believe God blessed me with that treadmill on December 31!! My In-laws gave me theirs they no longer used!!! Something that really helped me was the bible app! One of those plans, helped me get control of my eating!! I no kidding saw the plan and thought "I don't have an eating addiction that plan isn't for me". I decided to check out the first devotion and I'm so glad I did!! By the time the days were up on that plan, I had a better understanding of the gift of food, and that instead of going to it when I'm in my feelings, or bored, God wants us to come to Him not His gift. WOW!! Changed my eating habits!! So yes in one month of commitment, and consistency I've lost 11lbs!!
And last but not least, my sewing skills!! The first month of the year was filled with first time makes for me like my first coat!! I made this Butterick pattern and loved it! I also made McCalls quilted jacket with was my first time quilting ANYTHING!! And you all know how I feel about that beast! LOL!!
I'm excited to see what the next month will bring! I plan to do a commitment and consistency check at the end of every month, so y'all hold me to it!! Hope you're being consistent with your goals too! Let me know below if we have similar goals in the comments!
