Happy New Year!!! I hope your first week of the new year has been full of motivation and excitement to make 2017 awesome!! To kick the year off, what better way than to start with a challenge. I love being apart of challenges, not only because I get to sew, but you meet so many amazing sewers and thats a great way to make friends and build relationships within the sewing community! But now, it's time to reveal my makes for the Day and Night Dress Challenge!!
The Day dress was the dress to use pretty colors, and prints. I chose a beautiful Liverpool knit from lafinchfabrics.com. This fabric feels so good, and the colors are so vibrant!! For my dress, I went with McCalls 6884 Wrap dress. You know wrap dresses are one of my favorite styles. Love them!! I did make a small modification by raising the top of pattern piece 1 so I could have a little more coverage. I got that tip from my sew sister Judith!!
The Night dress was to be made in black, for a formal event or just a nice evening out. I went with New Look 6370. I used the bodice of View C, and pleated the skirt. The used peach skin for the black underneath and the pretty lace is from fabricmartfabrics.com. I don't sew with New Look patterns much, but I quickly learned that their sizes are different. I usually cut an 18, and assumed I would cut the same for this pattern, but I should've went to the next size, hence the smushed bust look, needing a child to zip me up, and nearly suffocating!! LOL!!
I really enjoyed this challenge! I hope you joined in with us and sewed up some pretty dresses!! There are prizes to be won!! Below you will find the blog tour list of all the ladies that are up next to reveal their looks!! Be sure to follow them!
