Hey everybody! Hope your Monday is off to a great start!! So, lets talk about this beautiful fabric first!! It came from Canada!! Can you believe my first package from Canada was fabric?!! Lol! Lets rewind a bit. I'm in a awesome Facebook group called the Pericrafters and we are finishing up our May project, which is The Great Fabric Swap. Thats right you guessed it, we were randomly paired with group members that wanted to participate...long story short...I received this amazing fabric from my partner!!
Since the off-the shoulder look is every where now, I decided to give it a try! I knew I wanted a dress and not just a top, and this fabric was perfect for it. Light and breezy! I'll be wearing this probably all summer!!! Lol! To make the dress, I cut View A on Butterick pattern 6206. Instead of the high-low of the dress, I cut to View B dress length.
For the flowing top of the dress, I borrowed the ruffle of View C on Butterick pattern 4685, added 10 inches to it, and attached it to the dress. For the sleeves, I folded the fabric to be double my arm measurement, used the same length as the ruffle, sewed the side down, added elastic to the top, and attached it to the top of the dress! With all the adding and extra pieces I used, I love the final result!!
Had some company while taking these pics!! You all have a great day and I'll talk to you in the next post!!
