Hey everybody!!! I hope you are staying warm wherever you are because it's COLD outside!! My goodness! I live in the south, so I know up North is way colder than here. Don't be like me and go out to take photos in 37 degree weather!! Yes, thats what I did! I drove to my spot, next to the ocean, in my little red dress, and posed honey! LOL!! I was freezing!! This was the first shoot where I said "whatever I got, is good enough". LOL!! But lets get into this dress!
Vogue 9184 is a perfect dress for beginners!! You only have 2-3 pieces depending on view, and if you choose the maxi version then you will have the 2 additional pieces (1A-2A) to cut. I decided to go with View A without the collar. Stable knits are one of the suggested fabrics, so I used a red ponte knit from my stash.
For modifications, I took the side splits out, because they started right beside my hip, and just continued the seam to the end of the dress. I also tapered in the hem to be a little more fitted. I do think an invisible zipper would look best, but they just have a regular zipper under the notions. I didn't have an invisible zipper on hand, so I just used what I had. The armholes and neck (depending on view) are finished using single fold bias tape.
I think with some fun, bright spring colors this will be a great dress to add to your closet!! I'll be uploading the 'sew with me' video soon to help you make a few!!
Again, stay warm and I'll talk to you in the next post!!
