Hey everybody! Happy Thursday! I hope you're doing great! With the sun blazing and weekend approaching I thought this was the perfect time to share this super easy headband tutorial. I don't know about you, but it takes time for me to get my hair right and I don't always have that time, or feel like making the time!
I remember I use to make headbands all the time but got away from it and other fun little accessory projects! Believe me, I'm back to making them now especially this one here! This Made in "No Time" Headband is perfect! Its great for beginner makers, its also a great project to get your "sewjo" back and perfect project to use up scraps! Its also great to jazz up your outfit and since its made in a knit (I used a rayon jersey from Fashion Fabric Club to make mine) its not too heavy or hot!
This tutorial is installed on my Husqvarna Viking Epic 980Q sewing machine. You can click here to watch my overview video of the machine, where I talked about different features I love about it! So now, lets get started.....
-SEWING MACHINE: (I HAVE THE HUSQVARNA VIKING EPIC 980Q)
-KNIT FABRIC: 45"X12" (I USE A RAYON JERSEY KNIT)
-STRETCH NEEDLE: (I USED THE NEEDLE 70)
Measure, mark and cut a piece of fabric 45"X12". With RIGHT side together, fold the fabric lengthwise and sew it together using a straight stitch. (I used the straight following the directions, but you can use a zigzag stitch if you like, I've worn mine, it stretches great and haven't popped a stitch.)
Turn fabric RIGHT sides out and press. On one short open end, measure out 1 5/8 seam allowance, fold it in and press. Take the other short end, and put it inside the end that you just pressed the seam allowance in.
Using your pins, pin through all thicknesses and sew in a straight stitch close to the edge. (Again you can use a zigzag stitch here if you like, or you can hand sew it closed as I did.)
OPTIONAL STEP: (Not a part of the tutorial...I added it) Sew your personal label on!
THATS IT! You can wrap your new headband around twice or warp and add the twist! Have fun with it, make a ton and go be cute!!
Thanks for stopping by today! Until next time...
