Hey everybody!! Oh boy, have I missed y'all! Feels like I haven't written a post in a while, but I've been super focused and excited about my vacation!! That's right we're headed home today to drop the little ones off, and Wednesday we'll be in the air to Hawaii!! I CAN NOT WAIT! LOL!!!
So we're just about half-way through April, and I wanted to do a short recap at the looks I've made so far for 2017! I was surprised when I saw that I've sewn 15 garments so far!! Some were easier than others, but I love them all!!
First up are the month of January makes:
The wrap dress was from my all time favorite wrap dress McCalls pattern 6884. This is one of my TNT (tried and true) patterns. I've made it 6 times!! LOL The fabric used was a Liverpool Knit from LaFinch Fabrics. Love the texture of liverpool! I definitely find myself reaching for it more over my long time fav ponte. I think it's because of the crepe-like texture liverpool has.
The black dress was made with lace from FabricMart Fabrics! I love the overall look of it, but my fit was wayyyy off! I mis-measured my bust and ended up with a super snug bodice. This pattern has princess seams on the bodice which are great because you can really customize (grading/merging lines) for better fit!
The fuchsia flounce dress was so fun to sew! I used a really thick ponte knit from Joann to create it. I'll probably end up making Justice something from it, because I've haven't worn it since. WHEN I make it again though, I'll be sure to use a mid-weight knit, or any of the other suggestions listed on the pattern.
So clearly, I was in the zone for February!! I absolutely love the first three pieces and Justice coat! My burgundy wool is amazing!! I I reached for that coat a lot during the cool weather! That and the quilted jacket will stay in my closet forever!! Lol!! Justice has sadly already grew out of her coat, but that's okay because it hot here, but I know I'll be making her next winter season!
The blue floral liverpool dress, looking back now really aged me. I feel super grown when I wear it. Lol!! The black scuba knit was for Valentine Day and I haven't worn it since! I love the fabric, but I'm not crazy about the look of this dress. Judith of Judith Dee World suggested a belt. I will have to try that to see if it changes my few of it, but if not...Justice gets a new dress!!
My March makes were by far my favorites and I'll wear these a lot!! The off the shoulder top is so on trend and comfy! I already made the dress, and another top with the split sleeves!! I'm actually wearing the palm tree dress right now as I type!! LOL! I've worn this one to my son flag football games, grocery shopping, I love it!!
Out of them all, the one I'm obsessed with is the cold shoulder Butterick dress! This dress flows and hangs so beautiful! Sewing the facing around the arm hole was new and almost confused the mess out of me, but I pressed through, and love the final results!!
Well thats all for the Makes of The Year: First Quarter!! I hope you love the pieces I created as much as I do. Between these makes, I also did a Sewing Blogger Series, Quick Fit Tip, and Youtube Videos!! Second quarter is already off to a great start and I can't wait to share them with you!!
Have a blessed week, stay safe, and I'll talk to you in the next post!!
