Happy Friday!! I just love this look. I know I should be focusing more on the upcoming season, but summer is not over yet!! LOL! Don't get me wrong, I'm really excited this year to make some jackets, sweaters, and some lasting pieces for my wardrobe, but its still warm here in the south! You know my motto...suns out, shoulders out. LOL! (I just made that up!!)
McCalls 7543 was a favorite pattern for me this summer. I think I made it a total of 3 times. For this one, I used a floral cotton that I found at my local Walmart. This was actually leftover fabric from my Easter dress this year. This was a super quick top to sew up. Love that the pattern offered it with ties at the ends of the sleeve or an elastic casing. I made a Sew With Me video for this pattern and added split sleeves for it! Turned out really cute!!
My pants are Simplicity 1069 view B with view A belt loops and tie! I LOVE these pants. They are super comfy and I'm really into the wide leg for my figure! I think it'll be my go-to style for pants!! I used a beautiful berry colored linen (options) from The Fabric Store in LA. I really enjoyed making them, and taking my time getting fit right on my tissue paper before cutting my fabric.
Below, you can see a few pics from the construction. Nothing fancy but I just want to show and share a little more with you!! In pic #5, you can see some chalk marks. After sewing the inseam and trying the pants on, I noticed I had lines pulling across my thighs from the inseam area, so I let the inseam out a bit and graded it back to the original stitching line at my chalk marks.
Hope you all have a great weekend. If you are in the path of Hurricane Irma, I'm praying for your safety. I'm currently packing and preparing to evacuate soon. Be safe everyone!
