Hey everybody! Happy Monday! I have a lot of fun things coming up on the blog this week! A fun rainbow stripe mommy and me look that will be live Thursday, and a cool trendy tie-front jumpsuit on Friday! I'm taking part in Mathew of Mister Domestic Loved to Pieces Blog Party and the fabrics I used for those looks are from his new collection and Art Gallery Fabrics. I am sooo excited about it! I'll chat more about how the party Thursday but until then lets chat about my first look this week, my New Look 6413 jumpsuit!
I am so in love with this jumpsuit! I do have a few New Look patterns, however I rarely sew with them because the size range don't always include all of my measurements! I mostly buy from the Big 4 pattern companies. I don't remember when I purchased this jumpsuit but I was looking through my stash a couple weeks ago, came across it, checked out the finished garments measurements, and when I saw that my hips measurement was on the back of the pattern, I ran to my cutting table! LOL!
I love this jumpsuit! I got lots of feedback about it before making it, and most of the feedback was that the bodice was too big. I agree, if I would've cut the jumpsuit based off my hip size, or bust measure, it would've been too big. I decided to do a quick pattern grade to get a closer fit in my bust. For size, I cut the 14 for the bust, 16 for the waist, and a 20 for the hip.
This pattern has two different sleeve options for the jumpsuits, a dress option and also a belt. I made View A of this pattern. My favorite detail is that front zip! I love it so much! From looking at the jumpsuit, you probably wouldn't know that there is elastic casing in the back pant hem. I think thats why the pants look a tad long to me even though I took up an extra inch on the hem. The elastic is only in the back not the front. The length is perfect for me though, so I may go back in and add elastic to the front too, or just take it out the back or I may just leave it alone LOL! I haven't decided yet!
For fabric, I used this amazing Aztec Pique Knit from Measure Fabric Parlor. The fabric feels amazing, it was so easy to work with, and it was perfect for my jumpsuit! It definitely gives me 70s vibes a little!
Overall, this jumpsuit is a winner! I love the details on it! It was a great pattern to sew, and the instruction were easy to follow! I'd love to make another one some time in the future!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Until Next time...
