Happy Wednesday!!! I hope you're having an awesome week so far!! I'm really pumped about this post so lets just jump right in. You all know I LOVE me some skirts, and dresses!! I literally have not owned a pair of jeans, or pants (outside of leggings, and workout bottoms) in my adult life!! No kidding!! So this was a big deal for me. I really wanted to try my hands at some new things. *insert super cool, and comfy jumpsuit*
For my first pants make, I knew it had to be something loose. I'm not ready for butt adjustments yet, so I didn't want to make anything that would require doing that! I also knew it needed to be an easy pattern, without all the extra details i.e.fly, buttons, zippers! So at this point I'm left with pajamas or a jumpsuit!! LOL!!
Looking through my pattern stash, I came across Simplicity 8178! I love that the pattern had 2 leg variations and I knew the wide-leg would be perfect!! The pattern was really easy to construct with good instructions to follow along with. For fabric, I used a beautiful Chambray, that I purchased from The Fabric Store while shopping in LA.
Simplicity 8178 Pattern Review:
Pattern Description: Misses Jumpsuit with slim or wide legs, dress and jacket
Pattern Sizing: I cut the 16 for my bust and graded the pattern to the 18 for my waist and 20 for my hips. To see how I grade my patterns, you can check out this video here.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. I didn't have any problems with the instructions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the binding around the neck and arms of it instead of just a narrow hem. The pockets, and of course the wide leg.
Fabric Used: Chambray, options
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I sewed my binding on different than the instructions. They say to sew the binding on the right side first to flip over, cover the raw edges and then stitch down. I sewed it to the wrong side first and then flipped over, and stitch the binding down to the right side of the top.......if that confused you, no worries, I recorded this for a "Sew With Me" video to help walk you through it!!
Would you sew it again? I might, and I say might because I just bought some new jumpsuit patterns, and since I'm new to the whole pants making, I have a lot of patterns to sew up!! LOL!
Thanks for stopping by today!! Hope you have a great rest of the week! Stay tuned for the video!!
