Hey everybody!! Hope you're having an awesome day!! I was thinking the other day about consistency as a sewing blogger, and man it's tough! I feel like we have so many steps to take before we get to actually post, it can be very overwhelming when you see your post day approaching but nothing is finished. Now we can't just ignore our blog and our readers, so today lets talk about a couple things you can write about to not only give out great info, but give you time to finish your project!!
YouTube: If you have a channel, this is the best time to get in a haul or favorites video. You can talk about your recent patterns, tools, fabrics, notions you've bought. You can even do a video about your past, recent and upcoming projects. This keeps your readers engaged and excited to come back because they now know what coming up on your blog.
OOTD: If you're really into fashion, this is the time to model a couple of your new or favorite looks. Be sure to let your readers know of any deals, where to find those exact pieces, or similar looks. We all love good deals!!
Re-Purpose Looks: Do you have some amazing pieces that you created and blogged about years ago, that you still wear today? Well, show us!!! How are you styling it now? What do you love so much about the piece? Any special tips you did/do to keep it looking great? We want to know!!!
Let just say video, and fashion isn't really your thing. Honestly, as much as I love seeing others put great looks together, it's a struggle for me!!! I could use an Accessorizing 101 class!! LOL!!
How-To: Here's your chance to show your readers a cool tip, or technique that you've learned that can really help them improve something. Doesn't have to be huge tips, like installing zippers (lets be honest its enough videos for that already). Have fun and do something new! Maybe you know a cool way of re-folding your commercial pattern that won't have the envelope bulky and sticking out!! OMG if you know how to do this....let me know!!
Pictorials: Perfect alternative to video, are step-by-step photos! Your current project may not be finish but maybe you can squeeze in a smaller project like taking scraps and doing a pictorial of a cool craft, or another how-to step like welt pockets, or fly zippers!!!
Information: Do you have some insider information on the best place to purchase a specific type of fabric? African prints for example are HUGE. But we all know some are authentic and some are NOT! If you know of awesome places write a cool informational post about it! These "where to get", "best places to shop" posts are very valuable to your readers.
Ask: One of the easiest things you could do is simply ask your readers a question to get them engaged. I remember asking "MUSIC or TV While You Sew". I told which one I do and why, and had such a great respond from my followers just sharing what they do while they sew! That post gave me time to finish a project, but also told my readers a little something about me, and I learned something about them!!
There are MANY other topics that you can use when you're in need of a quick post. Always post content thats helpful, even if you're simply reviewing a pattern! Every post doesn't have to be about something you've sewn! Just post valuable information you know your readers will enjoy and your blog will stay consistent.
Thanks for stopping by. If you have another cool topic to write about between projects, let me know in the comments!
