Hey friends! Happy Thursday! I hope you all have had a great week! Today I’m sharing a new look and for me….its all about the pants! I just started following Tenicka on Instagram and I’m in love with her clothing and color blocking style! One thing that she wears a lot of is wide leg pants. She really inspired this look with the pants in a nice flowy, lightweight fabric and I love it! So now that you know where my inspo came from, let’s get into the details.

the details

I used Simplicity 8885 and made View C on the pattern. I’ve had this pattern in my stash for a while but never made it, so I’m happy I finally got around to it! Now, I want to make A LOT more of these pants! For the cami, I used True Bias Ogden Cami PDF pattern. It’s a tried and true pattern for many of us and I’m sure I’ll make one or two more before summer is over.

For fabric, I used this Everly Twill in the color Brick for my pants from Melanated Fabrics! This fabric is amazing. It’s lightweight, with an amazing drape and it has a texture on it! You can do a lot with this fabric! Partner, Mimi G, just made this jumpsuit using the fabric in the White color. The cami was made from this rayon print and I love it too! I have more left over, so I may make a cute little dress….I don’t know yet!

size + adjustments

For the pants size, I cut the 22. The 22 fits my hips but not my waist so I did take in the waist about 4 inches and I love the fit. I did not make any adjustment to the length on the pants.

For the cami, I cut the 16 and took about an inch and half from the strap length.

tips

When installing the zipper, I applied thin strips of interfacing on the edge of the fabric to give the zipper some stability since the fabric is lightweight. I learned that tip from Erica Bunker a couple years ago and I do it before installing all zippers.

machine

You all know, I’m team Husqvarna Viking and for this look I used my Epic 95Q to stitch it up!

final thoughts

I love this look and both of these patterns! I will definitely wear them together and also as separates! Both pattern instructions were easy to follow and understand and I recommend them both! If you can attach facings and install zippers, give them a try!
