Hey everybody! I hope you all are doing well! Its finally October 23! I’ve been waiting for this day for weeks now! If you haven’t heard, Mimi G and myself are opening an online fabric store, Melanated Fabrics, and today is opening day!!!!!! Y'all, I’m still in shock and full of joy about this! I am currently living a dream, a dream that I didn’t even dream for myself so I know it’s all God! I don’t even know if that makes since but you know how something amazing happens that wasn’t in your plan, so you know it’s all God, yeah…. that makes since!

One of the things I’m most excited about is being able to create with fabrics from our store and share them with you. Everything thats in Melanated Fabrics was selected by Mimi G and I. We absolutely love selecting beautiful and quality fabrics to offer the community. The look I’m sharing today is made with fabrics from our store! Let’s get into the details of my Fall look.

the details

Pattern Used: For the top, I used McCalls 8114 View A, and the pants are Simplicity 9114. This is my second make of Simplicity 9114 pants! They are a favorite! You can read my review here for them.

Pattern Description: For the top, Cowl neck pullover knit top with sleeve & length variations. *description from McCalls website.

Pattern Sewing Level: I didn’t see a sewing level on the pattern, but I’d rated it Easy. The only part that I could see as confusing (for a beginner) would be sewing the neck of the sweater. But once you get past that step, it comes together really quickly.

What size did you cut?: I cut the L for the top. It fits great. I notice the cuff was a little big which is why I have them pushed up on my arm, but the fit through the bust and waist is great.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, they were easy to follow.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? No dislikes. It’s a cute cowl neck sweater. I like the cropped length so it worked great for these high waisted pants. The cuff were a little big like I previously mentioned but that’s an easy fix.

Did you make any pattern alterations: I did not make any alterations or adjustments to the top.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? Both of these fabrics are from Melanated Fabrics. The top is our Topaz Sweater knit fabric. Super soft and great from sweater, cardigans, and tops. The pants are a Lyocell Twill, which is one of my favorite fabrics. It’s soft and drapes beautifully. Its great for pants, dresses, and skirts!

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? I did not record a sew along for these!

Would you sew it again? Maybe. I like the top but I don’t need too many of them. Would I make the pants again, absolutely!

Would you recommend it to others? Yes! If you’re looking for a quick and cute sweater this one will be great!

Well, that is all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! Be sure to visit Melanated Fabrics for some beautiful fabrics curated my Mimi G and I! Until next time….

Blessings,
