Black Gauze Tunic: mccalls 7969

IMG_9613.jpg

Hey everybody! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas! I truly enjoyed my time with my family! We relaxed, watched movies, opened presents, ate a nice dinner, and had a great day together! It was perfect! So perfect I decided I’m just let the Christmas tree stay up to maybe February…..why not?! Lol!

Today, I’m sharing a new look that I’m loving so much! A couple months ago, I made McCalls 7969 and thought I’d revisit it again but for a tunic instead of a dress!

pattern + fabric

I used McCalls 7969 and made View A on the pattern. The pattern is a Misses Dress pattern but I shortened mine by 7 inches. For the fabric, I used some Triple Cotton Black Gauze from Melanated Fabrics. This fabric is still in stock in the color Black and Khaki! This fabric feels amazing. Very lightweight, and soft with a great texture on it.

Now I gotta be honest, I was little worried when sewing the binding along the neckline but I found a way around that! Keep reading….

sizing + adjustments

I made this tunic in a size 16. For adjustments, I shortened the dress by 7 inches to make it a tunic and because this gauze is little too thick for a binding, I created a facing for it! Its so much better than the binding, trust me! I tried the binding first and it was too chunky, so facing it became!

What I liked about that is changing it to a facing allows the gathers along the shoulders to “lift” more and I loved that with this fabric! The sleeves are my favorite part about this top!

I paired the tunic with some Faux Leather Leggings from Target and some black sandals! They fit great and I’m wearing an XL. I’m here for this all black look!

Well thats all for today. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog!

Until next time…

Blessings,
