one shoulder knit dress: sew it academy

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was spent restful! Today I’m sharing a new dress that I am loving! If you didn’t know Sew It Academy now has Exclusive PDF Patterns!!! Last months PDF was a great sweatshirt/pant set! What I like is that you can make those pieces in lighter fabrics for the warmer months and have a great matching set for spring/summer. This month pattern is a One Shoulder Knit Dress, and it’s great! Let’s get into the details.

the details

Pattern Used: I used April Exclusive Sew It Academy PDF for this dress.

Pattern Description: It is a One Shoulder Knit Top and Dress pattern. View A is a top version that hits at the high hip and View B is a body con dress that hits mid calf.

Pattern Sewing Level: This is an easy sewing pattern. I has 4 pattern pieces (front, back, neck and armhole band)

What size did you cut?: I cut the size 24 for the Bust, 26 for the Waist and 28 for the Hips. That was a mistake lol. I ended up taking in a lot to get the fit I like, so be sure to look at your finished garment measurements BUT remember that its knit so you can go down a size or two depending on how fitted you like your garments.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Very! I made this dress with no instructions, so I’m sure you’ll be able to follow along with the video I made for it in the Sew It Academy;)

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? No dislikes! I like that it’s easy to wear, and it can be transitioned into other seasons. I can see this top under a jean jacket or a blazer for Fall. So it has possibilities and potential for many outfits.

Did you make any pattern alterations: I did. I graded the pattern between 3 different sizes. Even after taking the dress in, I took the bust to a 20, waist to a 22 and hips to a 24.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? My fabric is from Melanated Fabrics! We will have the fabric live on our website by end of the week, so make sure that you stay tuned for when its live!

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? I filmed Sew It Academy Course #76. In that course, I walk step by step through the construction from sewing it and also share how to use a twin needle for a professional looking hem.

Would you sew it again? Yes! Definitely! I plan to sew the another dress and a top.

Would you recommend it to others? I would! Its a quick, easy sew and it will be great to slip on and wear all spring/summer long!

Thank you all so much for stopping by the my blog today! If you’re not a member of the Sew It Academy, sign up today! Until next time…

Blessings,
