one shoulder sunflower dress: simplicity 9777

Hey friends. Today on the blog, I’m sharing my make for Simplicity #letssewpinkchallenge. On Instagram, Simplicity announced that they were hosting a #letssewpink challenge for July which worked great for the popular Barbie movie. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I did love seeing and sewing pink garments this month. I have more pink fabric to cut into before summer is over, but I finished this Simplicity dress right on time. It was a few rules for the challenge, one included using one of the patterns they selected. I thought this was cool because this gave the people who entered a chance to be creative and really hack patterns up or sew the garments like the pattern. Before I get too far into the challenge, let’s get into the details of this dress.

the details

Pattern Used: I used Simplicity 9777 for this dress.

Pattern Description: Easy-to-sew, one shoulder dress in mini and maxi lengths with sleeve options, side seam pockets and elasticized waist. Maxi length has side slit. *description from Simplicity website

Pattern Sewing Level: This pattern level is rated Easy.

What size did you cut?: I cut the size 22 for the bust, 24 for the waist and 26 for the hips.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. The instructions were really easy to follow and its only 4 pattern pieces. I was able to cut and sew this pattern all in one day.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I don’t have any dislikes. It came together really easy. I like that this is a great summer dress that I can wear with flats, wedges or sneakers. I’m all for easy to wear, versatile garments.

Did you make any pattern alterations: Other than grading between the pattern sizes so it fit my bust, waist and hips, I didn't do anything else to the dress.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? My fabric is a Rayon from Melanated Fabrics.

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? Were the instructions easy to follow?

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? I did not, but this is a Mimi G pattern and she has a sew along on her channel.

Would you sew it again? I would. I can see myself making this in a solid fabric as well.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes.

Well, that is all for my post today. I’m looking forward to seeing everyones #letssewpink garments. Did you join in the challenge?

Thank you all so much for stopping by the my blog today! Until next time…

Blessings,
