matching rayon pant set: simplicity 9756

Hey friends. Today on the blog, I’m sharing my recent make, Simplicity S9756. When I tell you that I love this pattern and recommend it….I LOVE this pattern and recommend it LOL! I’ve been seeing a lot of matching sets and really wanted to make one for myself. I find sets to be really versatile and that’s something I’m always wanting for my wardrobe. When this Simplicity pattern was released, I knew it was going to make it! The halter on the pattern isn’t something I would wear a lot of so, I just went for the shirt and pants. I can’t say enough how much I love it and plan to make more. Let’s get into the details….

the details

Pattern Used: I used Simplicity S9756 for this dress.

Pattern Description: Relaxed fit button front shirt has collar, long sleeves with cuffs and back yoke with pleats. Pull-on pants have elastic waistband and self ties. Cropped fit halter top has cut out detail and O-ring that connects to bodice with loops. *description from Simplicity website

Pattern Sewing Level: This pattern level is rated Average.

What size did you cut?: I cut the size 20W for the shirt, and 28W for the hips. This set is already kinda loose and relaxed but I wanted it to be more oversized so I did go up a size for this pattern.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. The instructions were really easy to follow. I didn’t have any issues with the instructions or the illustrations in the pattern guide. I really took my time with this pattern. Life was busy while I was working on this so I think this pattern sat on my sewing table for almost a month. I honestly got tired of looking at it LOL! I was able to finish it up though by sewing for 30 minutes at a time when I could. A little progress a day got it finished.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I don’t have any dislikes, it’s only love for this set! I love the shirt and the high low hem that it has. For the pants, I like that it has the two rows of elastic casing AND a drawstring to make the waist tighter if need be. I love the overall relaxed look of the set.

Did you make any pattern alterations: I did. I got a message on IG from another sewer that the pants inseam was short for them, so I took extra precaution and added about 5 inches to the hem. That was excessive LOL and I ended up cutting away 3 1/2. So I would recommend, measuring your inseam and making sure the length of the pants is where you’d like them to be.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? My fabric is a Rayon from Melanated Fabrics.

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? No, I did not film a sew along for this pattern.

Would you sew it again? 100%! I would make this pattern again. I can wear these pieces together as a set to separate. I can also dress it up or down! I love it!

Would you recommend it to others? Yes.

Well, that is all for my post today. Thank you all so much for stopping by the my blog today! Until next time…

Blessings,
