comfy gauze dress: simplicity 9102

Hey friends, happy Monday! Today I am sharing my latest make and thats a comfy gauze dress that I will probably wear everyday LOL! This is my second make for my #letssewthestash challenge that I’m doing on Instagram. I wanted to use up some of the beautiful fabrics that I’ve had for years to declutter a little and also challenge myself to only sew with fabrics in my stash. If you want to join me, tag me in your posts. I’d love to see what you make @brittanyjjones #letssewthestash.

Back to the dress. I’ve have Simplicity 9102 in my stash since it was released. I thought it was a great pull on and go, relaxed everyday dress. I know It’s not everyone style but I love it! Let’s get into the details.

the details

Pattern Used: I used Simplicity 9102 for this dress.

Pattern Description: Misses' button front caftan and dresses has sleeve and length variations. *description from Simplicity website

Pattern Sewing Level: This pattern level is rated Easy.

What size did you cut?: I cut the size 18 for this dress.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes! The instructions were easy to follow and the illustrations were great also.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I like all the variations that this dress has. From the collar option, to the sleeves and 4 length options.

Did you make any pattern alterations: Yes. I liked the front of the dress as is, but I didn’t love it. So, I decided to NOT cut the front on a fold and I added a placket along the center fronts to continue the buttons down instead of the stopping at the waist. I love that look much better. I also used snaps instead of buttons.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? My fabric is a Double Gauze from Melanated Fabrics. Here is a link to the fabric.

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? No, I did not film a sew along for this pattern.

Would you sew it again? 100% Absolutely! I can see at least one more of these in my wardrobe.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes.

Well, that is all for my post today. Thank you all so much for stopping by the my blog today! Until next time…

Blessings,

I used the hand press and snap kit to apply the snaps on my dress. If you’re in the need of numbered pattern paper or chalk pencils, I’m using those below.
