the wrap skirt: sew it academy

Happy Monday friends! Today I am sharing my latest Wrap Skirt that I made using a PDF from Sew It Academy. This is also the first make for my #letssewthestash challenge that I’m doing on Instagram. I’m declutter our home now, so it’s only right that I sew up some of the fabrics that I’ve been holding on to for YEARS! So for December, I’m challenging myself to only sew with fabrics in my stash. If you want to join me, tag me in your posts. I’d love to see what you make @brittanyjjones #letssewthestash.

If you didn’t know Sew It Academy has exclusive PDF patterns for its students and this is one of my many favorites! I’ve made this skirt twice and I will 100% be making more! With only 3 pattern pieces and it being so versatile, how can I not? It’s a winner, let’s get into the details.

the details

Pattern Used: I used The Wrap Skirt PDF from Sew It Academy Course 81. (you do have to be a member to access this pattern)

Pattern Description: Midi wrap skirt that ties around the waist with bias cut ties. *description from Sew It Academy website

Pattern Sewing Level: This pattern level is rated Easy.

What size did you cut?: I cut the size 20 at the waist and graded to the 22 for the hips.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. With Sew It Academy patterns, you follow along with the step by step video tutorial. It was really easy to follow along with. I was able to cut, sew and finish my skirt in one day.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I don’t have any dislikes. I love that it’s a quick sew and 3 pattern pieces. I also love the mitered corner finish along the front opening edges of the skirt. It gives the skirt a really beautiful and clean finish.

Did you make any pattern alterations: I had limited fabric, so I did shorten it a little. Also grading between the sizes. Other than that, no other adjustments/or alterations were done.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? My fabric is a Rayon from Melanated Fabrics. This fabric is sold out.

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? No, I did not film a sew along for this pattern.

Would you sew it again? 100% Absolutely!

Would you recommend it to others? Yes.

Well, that is all for my post today. Thank you all so much for stopping by the my blog today! Until next time…

Blessings,
